Quota Sampling

Also known as: Quota Sample, Proportional Sampling, Stratified Quota

Sampling technique defining how many respondents are needed from each demographic group to ensure sample representativeness.

Quota Sampling is a technique where the researcher predefines how many respondents are needed from each group or subgroup of the population (by age, gender, socioeconomic level, city, etc.) so that the final sample reflects the structure of the target population.

Unlike pure random sampling, quota sampling allows the researcher to actively control the sample composition. It is the most used technique in online market research because it combines operational practicality with a reasonable level of representativeness.

Quotas are typically defined based on census data or prior studies establishing the distribution of key variables in the target population. Once quotas for a group are met, recruitment of participants from that group stops.
