Concept Optimization
Also known as: Concept Refinement, Concept Iteration, Optimization Research
Iterative process of improving a product concept based on research feedback to maximize its market potential.
Concept Optimization is the iterative process of improving a product or service concept based on research results. Unlike the standard Concept Test (which evaluates for go/no-go), optimization assumes the concept has potential but seeks to identify exactly which elements to improve.
Optimization techniques: (1) MaxDiff to identify which concept elements are most valued; (2) Conjoint to understand which feature combinations maximize appeal; (3) verbatim text analysis to identify specific barriers; (4) agile concept iteration with feedback from successive research rounds.
With AI, it is possible to generate and test multiple concept variations in parallel more quickly and economically than traditional processes.
