ETL / ELT
Also known as: ETL, ELT, Data Pipeline, Data Integration
Process of extracting, transforming, and loading data from multiple sources to a centralized analytical repository.
ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) is the process of extracting data from multiple sources (transactional systems, APIs, files), transforming and cleaning them according to defined business rules, and loading them into a centralized analytical repository (data warehouse) ready for analysis.
ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) is the modern variant where data is loaded into the repository first and transformed afterward, leveraging the computing capacity of modern cloud data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift).
In market research, ETL/ELT processes integrate: survey data from different providers, sales panel data, brand tracking data, and digital behavioral data, creating a unified view of the consumer and market that would be impossible to analyze without automation.
Atlantia has data pipelines that automate the integration of its research data with clients' analytical systems.
