Footfall
Also known as: Store Traffic, Foot Traffic, Visitor Count, Store Visits
Number of people visiting a store or commercial area in a given period, a key indicator of point-of-sale appeal.
Footfall (or Store Traffic) is the count of the number of people visiting a store, commercial zone, or point of interest in a given time period. It is one of the most fundamental indicators of a point of sale's health: without traffic, no sales are possible.
It is measured through: person counters at store entrance (infrared sensors, cameras), aggregated and anonymized smartphone mobility data, or transaction data normalized by time.
Footfall is complemented by the conversion rate (% of visitors who purchase) and average ticket to build a complete picture of point-of-sale performance: Sales = Footfall × Conversion Rate × Average Ticket.
Atlantia incorporates footfall analysis in its geomarketing solutions to evaluate location appeal and the impact of local marketing actions.
